Frequently asked questions

About the product, your students, data and price.

The product

What is voice.school?

An assignment tool where students answer your questions out loud. Each student records a short spoken answer to each question in the browser, against a timer you set. Every answer is transcribed, and you grade, comment and return the work in one place.

Can't students just read an AI answer out loud?

They can try, but it's much harder than pasting one in. Each student draws their own questions from your pool, the clock is running, and the page notes it when they switch tabs or copy the question. Answers read from a screen also tend to sound like it, and you can listen to every recording. No tool stops a determined cheater, but this raises the bar a long way.

Does AI grade the answers?

No. AI only writes the transcript. You read or listen, decide the grade on your class's scale (for example A–F, 0–20 or the Danish 7-point scale) and write the feedback.

How do I get started?

Sign up as a teacher, create a class and share the join code with your students. Write a few questions, set the time per question and publish. Your first assignment takes a few minutes.

What happens after the due date?

Work handed in after the due date is marked as late. If you turn on the lock, students can't start after the deadline, but anyone who has already started can finish.

Who makes voice.school?

voice.school is made by the team behind Edaptio. The company is Edaptio II ApS in Copenhagen.

Students

What do students need?

A browser and a microphone. There's nothing to install. They join your class with a code, and a microphone check before they start makes sure they can be heard.

Do answers have to be in English?

No. Answers are transcribed word for word in the language the student speaks, and the app itself is available in 12 languages.

How do students get their feedback?

When you return the work. Students see their grade, your overall feedback and your comment on each answer, next to their own recording and transcript. They also get an email that feedback is ready.

What do the integrity signals record?

Only what happens on the assignment page: when the student leaves the tab or window and for how long, attempts to copy or paste, right-clicks, and a muted or disconnected microphone. You see each signal next to the answer it belongs to. Nothing outside the page is monitored.

Privacy and data

Where is our data stored?

In the EU. Accounts, classes, recordings, transcripts and grades are all stored there, and each recording is transcribed automatically by an AI model. All subprocessors are listed on the subprocessors page.

See all subprocessors

How long do you keep recordings?

Recordings are deleted automatically 12 months after they were made. Transcripts, grades and feedback stay until you delete them. Accounts nobody has used for 24 months are deleted, after a warning email.

Can we have data deleted?

Yes. Teachers can delete a submission, an assignment, a whole class or their account themselves, and the recordings go with it. You can also email us and we'll do it for you.

Do you have a data processing agreement?

Yes. You can read it on the DPA page. Write to us if your school or municipality needs anything else.
